SALON/SA 19-26th February 2011

We are proud to announce our first SALON/ event in South Africa. SALON/SA will run from the 19-26th February at various locations in which SALON/ presents over 20 contributors from fashion, art, photography and design.

And now in Cape Town

Salon/ will hold its first event in Cape Town. A list of contributors and locations have been approached and confirmed. The theme remains the same as our previous Salons. The SALON/ event will run at various locations throughout the city between 18th February – 26th February (with a possible week extention). In order to create a truly international cross-over, and a essential part of the Salon/ crossover is to bring a small presentation of Dutch fashion design to the Salon/SA event.

Tickets

Tickets will be on sale from January 30th. The ticket price is 100 rand and is valid for all days and allows entry to all SALON/ locations between 19-26th February.

What people get to see

Salon/ is staged at various locations from museums to galleries to empty spaces, and over a number of days, visitors experience fashion, art, photography and design installations in different contexts, creating a dynamic and interactive social event. The goal of Salon/ is to promote South African fashion, art, photography and design and to bring an understanding of these disciplines to a new public who may not have had access to it before. Also the locations play an important part in creating a new context, by ‘reviving’ interest in these spaces – Bertram House, Koopmans de Wet, Slave Church as inspiring locations in which to place contemporary fashion, art, design and photography.
